Spara
We all hear about power conservation and are constant audiences to lectures on importance of switching off electronic devices when they are not in use. Did you know that any device which is still connected to the power outlet consumes power even when its not in use??? This phenomenon is called Phantom Power. It is a small amount, typically around 2-10% of the actual power consumption of the device. But as the saying go "Little Drops make an Ocean", this tiny Phantom power accounts for nearly 26% of the worlds electricity losses. Ironically the phantom power wastage due to computers alone accounts for around 57% of this total losses? This was considered to be something that could not be controlled (until now),but now there is something which can control these losses. Independent studies show that nearly 60% of employees do not turn off their machines when they leave office. 10 % do not even turn off their Monitors and a shocking 85%of them keep their machines as it is while taking their breaks. Is this too smallan amount to be ignored? How would it be if you could generate some power to give back to the world and that too without utilizing any resources???
Power loss need not be a headache anymore.... SPARA, is the first of its kind device which is capable of eliminating up to 97% of the these losses. How much is it?? Around 50 MWhr per 1000 computers per year, the equivalent of what small town would consume in week and equal to NOT driving nearly 50,000 cars for a day. This being one of the most conservative figures ever. Cornering the power losses from systems and eliminating them is exactly what SPARA does. Armed with a hardware module and an supporting software, SPARA stays on to become the ultimate in distributed power management cadre. Add to this the loads of features are thrown in and one gets an irreplaceable product. The unique design and concept ensures that the product works not as a robotic personality which does what it is told to but as a personalized assistant to each user in the network.
Let the user be the finance team, the administrator, the employee, the management, anyone outside or let it be an institution, a MNC, a bank, a BPO or a NGO, or even a being on this planet, you always stand at an advantage when SPARA is there. Our simple motto of "Saving is Generating" is based on the simple logic that when you save something from being wasted, it directly translates to you generating that same amount without using any resource and finally, this generated resource is 100% Green!!!
Some of the capabilities of SPARA are highlighted below..
The product effectively eliminates the phantom power losses, which occur in PCs.
RoHS Compliance:
The product is assembled with full 100% ROHS compliant sub-systems making the product environment friendly and safe. We would be using recyclable materials so as to reduce e-waste due to the same.
Zero Modification policy:
The product follows a strict No Modification Policy where in which the entire deployment, usage or termination of the product will have ZERO modification on the infrastructure of the client. This ensures that the product is fully safe and problem free. This also gives SPARA an unmatched Disaster Recovery Time.
Remote POWER ON
The advanced version of the Product can power on a system from a hard power OFF state with the support of the on board features of the machine and the power module.
Fully automated operation:
The product is capable of configuring itself and carrying on its task effectively by itself, by learning from previous actions. It can determine and understand the traits of individual users and will configure itself accordingly.
Direct client scheduling capability:
The Clients can be scheduled from a single point and the configuration broadcast to them to work while in scheduled mode (non Autonomous) and when not connected to the network.
Multiple Device Control
The product can be configured to manage the power of connected peripherals like printers, or other managed devices. This is especially useful when the power of non interactable devices like Printers and scanners, which consume huge amounts of power, needs to be controlled.
Extensive reporting
The product can generate and send individual as well as consolidated reports complete with graphs and suggestions as per requirement in order to increase efficiency and performance.
User based reporting
Creates environmental awareness by creating and sending individual user statistics to prove to the user how his actions are affecting the environment.
Independent control over client’s power state
The administrator has individual control over each and every machine’s power features. This can used to enforce an action on any particular client when required.
Capability to learn and adapt to existing conditions
The product learns from the traits of its users by using various trend analysis algorithms and deriving patterns from existing data to ‘think’ and decide the action to perform.
Three tier architecture.
The flow works on a three tier architecture which makes sure that there is no data loss at the same time there is maximum efficiency. The three tiers being Autonomous, Manual and scheduled.
CPU throttling. [Linux Version Only]
The Linux editions can control and vary the CPU core frequencies using CPU throttling algorithms thus enabling the PCs to save power even when they are in use.
Process Management. [Linux Version Only]
The administrator can control (suspend, resume and terminate) the individual processes in the client so as to disable highly processor intensive processes when not required. Autonomous mode is not permitted in this mode due to security reasons).
Unmatched Disaster Recovery Time
Standard disaster recovery would either engaging the panic feature on the admin module on a network scale. In a local scale it would include shutting down the machine, removing the power plugs from SPARA module and connecting it directly to the power, power on the system. The time required for this is less than one minute.
Ease of use, Zero training required.
Extremely user friendly, minimal user interaction so as to avoid the need for end user to learn anything new.
Policy Setting Configuration.
The administration can configure policies which would in turn affect the autonomous decisions made by the AI module in the Client.

Sample Scenarios
Consider the following scenarios which show the benefit of using SPARA in Computer network.
In order to enable remote access to the users , their machines are required to be ON 24/7 round the year. Wherein the actual access takes place less for less than 4 hours a day. This creates a wastage of the power required to keep the machine ON for the remaining 20 Hours per day. Calculating for this scenario, (while considering that the monitor is OFF the entire time):
100 Watts x 20 hours x 365 days = 7,30,000 Watts/year per PC = 730 Units =876,000 Units/year Per PC
SPARA with Remote TURN ON the only loss is the time needed to turn on the machine. Taking it cumulatively as 15 minutes per day.
100 Watts x .25 x 365 days =9,125 Watts/year per PC = 9.2 Units
SAVINGS: cost/unit x (730 -9.2)=720x cost/unit Per PC
Considering the irregularity of the usage pattern of the users, the above said value would vary mostly in a positive way.
According to independent studies conducted by various organizations the number of employees who leave office without turning off their machines is estimated to be around 70% with around 60% turning off only their monitors. Creating a scenario based on this findings for 1000 employees in a year we get.
Power loss per year due to ON PCs: 14 x 160 x 365 x 100 = 8,17,60,000 Watts = 81,760 Units
Power loss due to monitor OFF only PCs = 14 x 100 x 365 x 600 = 30,66,00,000 Watts = 3,06,600 Units
Power loss due to Phantom Power = 14 x 10 x 365 x 1000 = 5,11,00,000 Watts = 51,100 Units
Total Losses = 4,39,460 Units
Cost= 4,39,460 x Cost Per Unit
This calculation does not include the public holidays, weekends and other OFFs. The actual value is much higher than what is shown here.
In case of SPARA the total losses would be only around equal of 15 minutes per day ( maximum cumulative time for the software to kick in) = 100 x .25 x 365 x 1000 = 91,25,000 Watts = 9,125 Units
Cost saved = 4,39,460 - 9,125 = 4,430,335 x cost per Units/Year
Considering the case with public holidays, OFFs and weekends would almost increase the above value drastically.
Ideal scenario
Normally in TURN OFF state a computer will consume around 10 Watts/hour (Phantom power losses).
10Watts/hour x 14 hours/day x 365 Days/year x 1000 Computers = 5,11,00, 000 Watts
=51,100 Units/year.
Cost= 51100 X Cost of POWER/Unit
In the case of SPARA the POWER WASTAGE will be ZERO WATT.
